Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms, with over 3 billion monthly active users. To stand out on Facebook in 2024, you need to create engaging content that resonates with your target audience.

Here are the 10 best types of Facebook posts to use in 2024 to increase engagement and reach more people:

1. Live Video

Live video is one of the most engaging types of content on Facebook. When you go live, you get higher visibility in the newsfeed and your viewers will give you stars which can be converted to cash. You will own this cash 100%. You can use Facebook Live to give followers a behind-the-scenes look at your business, host Q&As, stream events, introduce new products, and more.

Live video achieves 10X more comments than regular videos. Use interactive features like polls and Q&As to get viewers involved. The more comments and reactions you generate, the further your video will be distributed by the algorithm. However, do not forget to align your live session with Facebook’s community standards, content, and partner monetization policies.

2. Native Video

Native video posts also perform very well on Facebook. These are videos uploaded directly to Facebook, rather than linked from YouTube or other platforms. Remember, that Facebook’s algorithm doesn’t want its users to bring them outside the platform. What you can do is upload the videos, be it reels or long-form videos, to Facebook.

Then, if you want to increase views on your YouTube channel. Then incorporate the link in the comment.

But, you may ask when to insert the link in the comment. It depends, it is a personal preference. Facebook’s algorithm can detect the links in the comments especially when inserted too early. This will decrease your organic reach.

Take note of this: you need to gain organic engagement first before inserting the link in the comment. You have the first 72 hours upon publishing content to experiment on your own.

For example, 10 engagements such as 6 likes, 2 comments, and 2 shares you gain in the first hour with 100 views is acceptable already. You can now insert a link in the comment.

However, if you are not sure, just don’t insert a link because native Facebook videos generate 5X more engagement than links to videos from other platforms.

For Facebook reels, keep videos short, under 60 seconds. Use a 3-second hook. Use captions and visuals to capture attention quickly.

For long-form videos, aim for at least 3 minutes because this will align with the in-stream ads. Be sure to have ad breaks every minute.

Post at least one long-form new video per week then increase to 3–5 videos a week. Upload at least 3–5 reels per week then upgrade to 4–6 reels per day. Test different video styles — how-tos, testimonials, animations, etc. — to see what resonates most with your audience.

3. User-Generated Content

User-generated content (UGC) comes directly from your followers in the form of photos, videos, reviews, testimonials, etc. This type of authentic content builds trust and engagement.

Make content based on the best UGC on your page. UGC performs better than branded content. And it’s free! Use it frequently in 2024 to boost results.

4. Behind-the-Scenes Content

Give viewers a look inside your business or content with behind-the-scenes images and videos. Show your life but maintain privacy. Make a video or photo post about how your content is being made, details at work, and more.

This exclusive access makes followers and non-followers feel special. It boosts affinity for your content.

Post consistently. Use the JK5 method to boost reach and engagement. I explained in my e-book how to use the JK5 method on Facebook which will align with Facebook’s algorithm and monetization.

5. Live Q&As

Hosting live Q&A sessions is another excellent way to engage your audience. Go live and invite viewers to ask questions. Or, ask for questions in advance then go live to answer them.

This is a great way to showcase your expertise. It also allows you to identify follower pain points so you can improve their experience.

Use a catchy title like “Ask Me Anything!” Promote the Q&A in advance across your other channels. But remember to avoid clickbait and engagement bait styles.

6. Interactive Polls

Polls and quizzes add an interactive element that followers love. Ask questions related to your content or brand.

For example, a makeup brand can poll followers on their favorite products. An HR firm can share a fun “Which Office Character Are You?” quiz.

Keep polls concise, with no more than 2–3 options. Repeat regularly to keep driving engagement over time.

7. How-To Content

Educational how-to content also performs well, especially for service-based businesses. Share tips, tricks, and step-by-step instructions for using your products or services.

For example, a cleaning company can share tips for easy oven cleaning. A Facebook content and monetization tutorial niche can create how to appeal for monetization. A financial advisor can explain how to properly diversify investments.

Use a mix of images, text, infographics, and videos to create engaging how-to content.

8. Holidays & Events

Content tied to holidays, cultural events, and industry events resonates well when shared at the right times.

For example, a clothing brand can post fashion tips for New Year’s Eve outfits. A restaurant can share Memorial Day brunch specials.

Tie these posts directly to your products and services. Brainstorm a content calendar around upcoming events your audience cares about.

9. Limited-Time Offers

Limited-time special offers and discounts work well to generate buzz. Countdown the time window to create urgency.

For example, “20% off all purchases this weekend only!” Or, “Flash sale! Today only, buy one get one half off!”

Promote the offer repeatedly leading up to and throughout the timeframe. Use eye-catching graphics and videos. Monitor performance and double down on what converts.

However, the best way to sell your products is not to sell at all. Let the viewers find your product by creating valuable content. This content is the medium and the reason for them to buy your products.

10. Appreciation & Motivational Content

Finally, motivational, inspiring, and appreciative content builds a strong connection with followers. Share quotes, words of encouragement, and thanks.

Spotlight followers, viewers, and customers. Appreciate and acknowledge non-followers.

This content boosts affinity. Use it to reinforce the values your brand represents.

Tips for Creating Engaging Facebook Content

Here are some additional tips for creating content that resonates on Facebook:

  • Leverage Facebook reels whenever possible. All types of reels boost engagement. Short 15–30-second videos work great for ads too.
  • Use visuals. Posts with images and videos get more attention than text-only.
  • Text-only post. But never underestimate the capability of text-only posts. This post has no link, no emoji, no hashtags, no photo, and no CTA. Text-only posts have a great organic reach. The only disadvantage is that they can be embedded between videos and photos on your page decreasing their visibility.
  • Go live. Live video lets you connect with followers in real-time while boosting organic reach.
  • Interact with followers. Reply to comments, message followers, and engage in conversations.
  • Use analytics to find what works. Continuously test content types, post times, etc. Double down on what performs.
  • Partner with influencers. Influencer content helps expand your reach. Give them creative control to make authentic posts.

Creating compelling Facebook content will be key for brands to cut through the noise and connect authentically in 2024 and beyond. Test different content formats, identify what resonates, and refine your strategy over time. Put your followers first, deliver value, and boost engagement through creativity.

Final Thoughts

Facebook offers immense opportunity for brands in 2024, but only if you have the right content strategy. Avoid overly promotional posts and focus on creating authentic value. Tell stories, get visual, go live, and interact with your community.

Test new formats, like Facebook reels and interactive polls. Come up with creative ways to use UGC more. And don’t forget to optimize for vertical mobile!

Revamping your content approach takes work. But the payoff of higher reach, engagement, and conversions is well worth it. Use these 10 types of Facebook content as inspiration to connect with more followers in 2024.

FAQs

What is the best day and time to post on Facebook?

I always emphasize experimenting. But in general, the best times to post are generally weekdays from 9 am-3 pm when people are at work and have more downtime for browsing. And when they are home at 6 pm-9 pm. Analyze your Facebook Insights to see when your audience is most active.

How often should I post on Facebook?

Start small then increase the number of content gradually. For reels, 3–5 times a week is recommended by Facebook. However, if you want to increase revenue from Ads on Reels, increase to 4–6 reels a day. For photos, infographics, Q and A, interactive polls, linked posts, text-only posts, and long-form videos, aim at 3–5 times a week.

Make a content calendar and use the JK5 method. Do not worry about spamming on Facebook because the algorithm limits the content to be shown in every user’s feed. The algorithm will show your content based on an individual’s interests. But remember not to cause engagement fatigue by posting too much content in a day. Let your page or profile breathe.

What image sizes should I use?

Square 1:1 images or vertical images with a ratio of 16:9 both work well. Vertical images have the advantage because they align with the vertical form of the smartphone.

What’s a good length for Facebook videos?

Aim for videos at least 3 minutes long, with the first 3–10 seconds being the most important. For reels, 15–30-second videos work great. Mix up lengths and styles.

How can I get more Facebook engagement?

Ask questions, run contests, go live, respond to comments, partner with micro-influencers, post exclusive content, leverage holidays, and encourage shares. Interact frequently with followers and always align your content with Facebook’s community standards, and partner and monetization guidelines.
