Making money on Facebook: How top creators monetize their content

Facebook offers creators access to a diverse global audience and many tools to monetize their content, according to a recent Business Insider article.

The article featured interviews with successful Facebook creators like Wasil Daoud, a food creator who has been earning more than $9,000 on Facebook monthly. He shared that Facebook’s worldwide reach allows him to connect with more viewers and earn 30 times more revenue than other platforms.

Another creator, My Nguyen, described Facebook as a “cash cow” because Facebook has many monetization options available. With over 3 billion monthly active users, Facebook gives creators a high-reach platform with less competition to own their niche.

As an aspiring creator myself, I am now earning $800-$1200 monthly on one of my Facebook Pages. Take note: this is coming from Ads on Reels alone. I have 4 pages that are monetized at this time.

Here are 5 tips to start earning money on Facebook:

1. Set up a Professional Profile or Page

You can monetize either a professional Facebook profile or a separate Facebook Page. If you want to build a personal brand with your name and involve your connections, use a professional profile. For a business or brand, create a Page.

To enable a professional profile, go to your profile, tap the menu icon, and turn on professional mode. For Pages, visit Facebook’s Page creation tool.

2. Check your monetization eligibility

Facebook outlines monetization policies creators must meet to access earning features.

In Meta Business Suite or your professional dashboard, you can view eligibility for tools like Stars, Subscriptions, Reels ads, and more.

If you see violations or ineligibility, take steps to resolve them.

Appeal to Meta Support Pro.

3. Learn about Facebook’s monetization tools

Facebook offers options like Stars (virtual tips), Subscriptions for exclusive content, Reels and in-stream ads, and the Performance Bonus program. Evaluate which tools fit your content and goals.

4. Partner with brands

Collaborating with brands allows you to get paid to promote products to your audience. Be selective about partnerships that align with your community.

And watch out for hackers on Facebook. They are pretending to be collaboration partners, but they aim to get into your Page and business account. They will target your payout details. If you come across this, don’t share your payment details. Instead, contact Meta Support Pro immediately for help.

5. Track earnings in your dashboard

Regularly check the Professional dashboard to monitor how different content and monetization methods perform. Optimize based on insights.

How One Creator Monetized His Content and Built a Business on Facebook

In 2020, creator Abud Sadek leveraged Facebook to build an income stream and business with over 5.4 million followers. By purchasing his parents’ dream home with Facebook earnings, he showed the platform’s monetization potential.

Sadek originally created prank videos in 2014. Despite high viewership, he struggled to earn a sustainable income. Then he noticed creators profiting from tailored Facebook content.

According to Sadek, he started adapting his content for Facebook and the algorithm. When his first video hit 2 million views, he realized the money-making opportunity. Now, he earns over 98% of his income on Facebook.

Sadek analyzes high-performing content and finds strategic opportunities to engage his own audience. He saw a lack of Brazilian creators optimized for Facebook, so he filled that gap.

Here are 5 of Sadek’s tips:

1. Analyze performance data

Study metrics like click-through rate and engagement to optimize. Identify your target audience and their interests.

2. Know your audience

Create content that resonates with what drives your community. Broad themes that represent them tend to perform well.

3. Use Creator Studio insights

Leverage Creator Studio to understand what content works and improve. Look at loyalty, retention, and more.

4. Post consistently

Sadek posts 4 videos daily, including Reels which help gain new viewers. Consistency, especially with Reels, is key.

5. Be patient

Give yourself time to learn, test, and find what succeeds on Facebook. Use insights to steadily improve.
