How to Monetize Your Facebook Page (Tested Strategies)
Medium writers and bloggers missed the cash. You need to know how to monetize your Facebook Page.
How to Monetize Your Facebook Page
How to monetize your Facebook Page is the currently trending question on Google and Facebook content creation. Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world, with over 3.05 billion monthly active users.
This massive audience presents a huge opportunity for businesses, influencers, creators, and publishers to monetize their content.
There are several ways to make money from your Facebook presence, from its newest Monetization tools such as Ads on Reels, In-stream Ads, Stars, Reels Play Bonus Program, and Subscriptions up to selling products directly.
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the various monetization options and best practices to start profiting from your Facebook page. (The link will take you outside Medium.)
Why Monetize Your Facebook Page?
Here are some of the key reasons you should consider monetizing your Facebook page:
Reach a Massive Audience
With 3 billion monthly active users, Facebook provides access to a huge audience. Even if you have a small niche, chances are there are hundreds of thousands of potential customers interested in your content. Monetizing allows you to generate revenue from this vast reach.
And I mean, I don’t want you to leave Medium as well as I don’t want Medium readers to leave the platform.
If you are a Medium writer with no Facebook presence, you are missing your potential readers and customers who are already on Facebook.
Treat Medium as your Main platform (perhaps your second).
Establish Yourself as an Authority
Building a large, engaged following positions you as an authority and influencer. People trust recommendations from sources they follow. You can capitalize on this trust by promoting products, services, and offers.
Diversify Income Streams
Rather than relying solely on one revenue channel (Medium Partner Program for example), Facebook monetization allows you to generate income through multiple avenues like Ads on Reels, In-stream Ads, Stars, Reels Play Bonus Program, and Subscriptions and selling merchandise, advertising, affiliate links and more.
Monetize Existing Content
If you already have an audience and content strategy, monetization provides a way to start profiting from the assets you’ve built, without needing to create a new platform.
100% Owned Digital Real Estate
You control your Facebook presence and aren’t subject to platform algorithm changes like on YouTube or Instagram. This makes Facebook monetization more reliable and predictable.
Recurring Revenue Potential
Certain monetization models like subscriptions and online courses provide ongoing, recurring revenue as long as people remain subscribed. This provides stability and scalability.
How to Grow Your Facebook Following
To maximize earnings, you need a sizable, engaged audience. Organic growth takes time and consistency.
Here are some tips to build your following:
- Post Valuable Content: Share posts that entertain, educate, or inspire your audience. Useful content gets higher reach and engagement.
- Engage Followers: Respond to comments, ask questions in your posts, and participate in Facebook groups related to your niche. Being active builds loyalty.
- Run Contests: Contests, giveaways, and sweepstakes incentivize followers to like, share, and comment on your posts to increase reach.
- Cross-Promote Content: Share your Facebook page link and content across all your other social media accounts to drive followers from those platforms.
- Use Hashtags: Include relevant high-volume with low-competition hashtags in your posts so people can find your content through hashtag searches. (Link to my Medium blog post).
- Publish Consistently: Post new content on a regular schedule so people know when to expect updates from your page. Start at posting 3–5 reels per week and upscale to 4–6 reels per day. Consistency is key.
- Leverage Facebook Boost: Paid ads allow you to target your exact audience and get your content in front of more people who are likely to follow you. This is the other way that I made $3,800+ cash in 3 months by using Facebook Boost. (Link to my Medium blog post).
- Go Live: Broadcasting live videos gives followers a reason to tune in at a specific time and engages them with real-time interaction.
Top 7 Ways How to Monetize Your Facebook Page
Once you’ve built a decent following, you can start monetizing your Facebook presence through a number of lucrative avenues. Here are the top ways to make money from your page:
1. Sell Products Directly
When I say “directly”, directly to the comment section of the Facebook post and not directly to the description. Embedded links in the description will trigger the algorithm to decrease your reach.
Another way to monetize is by selling products directly on your Facebook page through a Facebook shop or you need to pin a post in front of your page. Again, the link should be in the comment section.
However, adding a Facebook shop is not available to all countries. But if you have a shop, people click to buy, they can checkout and complete the purchase without leaving Facebook.
Consider promoting limited-edition merchandise bearing your brand logo or designs related to your niche. Offering exclusives only available to your followers incentivizes sales.
Dropshipping is another option that allows you to sell products without holding inventory. You list items on your Facebook shop sourced from a third-party supplier who handles fulfillment. When you make a sale, they ship it directly to the customer.
2. Offer Ebooks, Online Courses or Memberships
One of the most lucrative ways to monetize is by offering online courses, coaching programs, ebooks, or exclusive memberships.
These digital products allow you to earn passive revenue from a recurring subscription model. As long as members remain enrolled, you earn every month.
Courses work well for topics you can teach like cooking, fitness, arts and crafts. Memberships providing exclusive content, discounts, and community work are great for influencers, thought leaders, and niche topics.
You can host your content on a dedicated membership platform and promote it on your Facebook page to enroll students.
3. Sell Ad Space For Branded Content
If you have a highly engaged following, you can make money by selling ad space on your page. Brands will pay for sponsored posts and stories promoting their products.
When doing sponsored content, disclose it as an #ad. Be selective about the brands you work with and reject offers that don’t resonate with your audience.
You can also run your own ads promoting your products, services, offers, and events. Paid ads allow you to target followers by age, location, gender, and interests to increase conversions.
4. Promote Affiliate Products
Affiliate marketing allows you to earn commissions by promoting other company’s products. Find affiliate programs related to your niche and share relevant products your audience may be interested in buying.
When people click your affiliate link and complete a qualifying purchase, you earn a percentage of the sale or a set bounty. Top affiliate networks include Clickbank, ShareaSale, Rakuten Marketing, and Amazon Associates.
Promote affiliate products in the comment section of your content, not in the description.
This helps you to skyrocket your organic reach and aim for conversions by organically blending real recommendations into your usual posts.
5. Add Donation Buttons
Enabling donations is an easy way for devoted followers to support your work monetarily. Nonprofits rely heavily on donations but they can work for personal brands too.
Add a Support or Donate button to your page allowing people to send one-time or recurring donations. Personal and charitable causes elicit the most giving. Be sure to thank donors.
When allowed to donate freely, super fans who want to back your mission often give far more than you’d expect. Some brands offer donor rewards like special access for top supporters.
6. Use In-Stream Ads
If your page publishes native videos, in-stream ads allow you to monetize by activating paid ads within your content. Video ads command higher rates and you earn money as viewers watch.
Be sure to make long-form videos above 3 minutes. Ad breaks occur every minute.
Pages must meet specific eligibility criteria to run in-stream ads, like having 5K+ followers and 60K video views in the past 60 days. Once approved, add video ads via Facebook monetization settings.
When inserting ads, look for 1-minute natural breakpoints that don’t disrupt the viewing experience. Also, disclose when a video contains paid promotions.
7. Let your Facebook audience consume written content by inserting links to your blog and/or Medium blog posts
This is the advantage of Facebook compared to YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. You can’t embed links on YouTube shorts. They removed the linking capability.
As per Instagram, aim for 10,000 followers so that you can activate the link in the bio (for just one link). For TikTok, you need at least 1000 followers so that you can insert one link.
Facebook, on the other hand, lets you insert links in any posts. So that you can increase your traffic to your website or Medium Blog Posts. External referrals matter on Medium SEO.
Maximizing Facebook Video Monetization
Video content presents additional money-making opportunities. Here are tips to maximize your Facebook video earnings:
- Go Vertical: Stream vertical video natively on mobile. Vertical videos average 10–30% higher retention compared to landscape orientation.
- I need to emphasize this:
More than half of all website visits, precisely 58.43% as of March 2023, come from mobile devices. A staggering 92.3% of internet users access the web using their mobiles. That’s about 4.32 billion active mobile internet users.
So, you need to go vertical to correlate with the vertical smartphone.
- Go Live Frequently: Live videos earn higher ad rates. Host live talks, Q&As and behind-the-scenes footage.
- Prioritize Watch Time: Ad earnings are based on minutes viewed. Create binge-worthy content fans want to watch for hours.
- Promote Videos: Cross-promote new videos across all your channels. Post clips on Instagram Reels. Drive external traffic to increase views.
- Collaborate with Influencers: Work with influencers in your niche to co-produce videos and cross-promote each other’s content.
- Curate Playlists: Organize your videos into themed playlists around topics your audience loves. Playlists keep viewers watching for longer.
Check Your Page’s Monetization Eligibility
Before you can start earning money, you need to make sure your page is eligible for Facebook’s monetization programs. Pages must meet specific criteria and comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies to unlock money-making features.
Here’s how to check your page’s monetization eligibility:
Access the Monetization Tab in Meta Business Suite
- Go to the Meta Business Suite desktop website.
- In the left sidebar, click the “Monetization” tab.
- This will show you an overview of your monetization status and page eligibility.
Select Your Page to View Details
- In the top left dropdown menu, choose the specific page you want to check.
- You’ll see any current monetization violations under “Status”.
- Click “View Page eligibility” to see in-depth eligibility information.
Review Available and Restricted Tools
- At the top, you’ll see monetization tools you can immediately use. Click “Set up” to enable them.
- Click the arrow beside “Other monetization tools” to see the ones you aren’t eligible for yet.
- Under each restricted tool, click “View criteria” to see requirements.
By checking eligibility regularly, you can resolve any issues and gain access to more money-making tools.
Resolve Facebook Monetization Policy Violations
If your page has lost monetization access due to a policy violation, you may be able to appeal and regain eligibility.
There are two main types of violations:
Partner Monetization Policies
- Apply to all Facebook pages, profiles, groups, and events.
- Violations cause a loss of overall monetization eligibility.
Content Monetization Policies
- Apply to individual pieces of content like videos or posts.
- Violations cause a loss of monetization for that specific content.
How to check for violations and submit an appeal
Access the Policy Issues Tab in Meta Business Suite
- In the Monetization tab, click “Policy issues”.
- Review any active partner or content violations.
Request a Review of Specific Violations
- Click “Request another review” for partner policy violations.
- Submit a review request via this online form for content violations.
Appeal on Mobile
- Click notifications about violations in the Facebook app.
- Tap “Request review” on the Policy issues screen.
- Submit an appeal explaining why you should regain monetization.
With a strong appeal highlighting how you’ll follow all policies going forward, you can often reinstate your monetization access.
Set Up In-Stream Ads
In-stream ads play before, during, or after your videos, allowing you to earn money from video views.
To enable in-stream ads:
Meet the Eligibility Requirements
Pages must have:
- 5,000+ followers
- 60,000+ video minutes viewed in the past 60 days
- 5+ active videos
Live videos also require:
- 10,000+ followers
- 600,000+ minutes viewed in the past 60 days
- 60,000+ live video minutes viewed

Get Approved in Meta Business Suite
- Click “Set up” under the in-stream ads eligibility tool.
- Select your page(s).
- Accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Provide payment account details.
- Submit for review.
Once approved, earn 55% revenue from ad breaks in your videos. Track earnings in Meta Business Suite.
Best Practices for In-Stream Ads Eligibility
If your page didn’t get approved for in-stream ads, focus on:
Growing Your Follower Base
- Respond to comments and engage with viewers.
- Promote your page and videos across all social channels.
- Include your brand name in the page title for search visibility.
Creating Quality Original Videos
- Produce videos that align with Facebook’s policies.
- Avoid low-quality, spammy, or manipulative content.
- Develop videos using owned content rather than repurposing others’ content.
Driving Video Viewership
- Post videos consistently to build loyal audiences.
- Structure videos with natural 1-minute ad break points.
- Optimize videos to retain viewer attention from the start.
By developing your presence and viewership, you can meet the requirements to monetize videos with in-stream ads.
Follow Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies
To maintain monetization access, you must adhere to Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies. Violating these guidelines can lead to losing eligibility.
Here are some key policies to follow:
Produce Authentic, Quality Content
All content must be authentic and created originally by you or your brand. Avoid spammy posts intended only for clicks or sharing. Maintain a high standard of quality in your content.
Comply with Facebook’s Community Standards
Ensure your content abides by Facebook’s Community Standards. You cannot monetize content that violates policies around harmful, dangerous, or hateful speech, intellectual property violations, or other infractions covered in the standards.
Don’t Artificially Inflate Engagement
Avoid artificial engagement tactics intended to boost visibility like incentivizing shares or likes. Don’t buy likes, followers, or shares from third-party services. Focus on earning authentic engagement.
Properly Disclose Branded Content
When posting sponsored or branded content, use proper disclosures like #ad. Be transparent if you have a business relationship related to what you share.
Follow Commerce Policies
Review Facebook’s commerce policies when selling products directly on your page. Follow rules around prohibited, regulated, or restricted goods.
By staying compliant, you maximize your monetization potential and avoid losing eligibility due to violations. Monitor your status regularly and resolve any issues immediately.
